Reminder – Solstice Blessing tomorrow

Hi All,

You’re invited to join me for the remaining Summer Solstice blessings being held tomorrow, June 19, and next Saturday, June 26. Absolutely everyone is welcome—whether you’re a reader of the blog, an old student, a past co-worker, a friend, a relative, a fellow member of my teacher’s community—all are welcome!

A blessing is a transmission of energy to make your spiritual path easier. Please join if you feel pulled to do so.

Blessing of the Sun – 30 mins

Helps you see what is spiritually correct for you.

Blessing of the Heart – 50 mins

Connects you with the deepest love of the Universe.

What to Expect

  • Your participation is anonymous. Video and chat will be turned off, and you won’t be able to see other participant names in the session.
  • When you join, a registration screen will pop up. I’m NOT collecting emails so just type in a dummy screen name and a fake email. dummy@gmail.com works just fine.
  • We’ll start about 5 minutes after the hour so folks have a few minutes to settle in. I’ll play some music during the blessing. The music feed is high quality, however if your internet connection is slow and the music sounds wonky, you can disconnect from the audio or turn your volume down. The music is not required for the transmission of the blessing.
  • During the blessing sit relaxed, with your spine straight, and your hands in your lap. Close your eyes and lightly meditate using whichever technique you prefer. I think sitting and smiling is a great way to go, but do whatever works best for you!
  • If you feel uncomfortable or bored, it’s fine to leave at anytime!
  • When the music ends, we’ll bow and offer our gratitude to the Universe.

How to Prepare

  • Install Zoom ahead of time / ensure you have the latest version installed.
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing that’s good for sitting/meditation.
  • Ensure you’re someplace where you won’t be disturbed.
  • Clarify your intent. Think about what you really want in your spiritual practice, write it down, and place it in front of you during the blessing.
  • Extra credit – read the foreword of the Dhammapada.

Excited to see you there!

Core Practice: Meditate daily

MedGalSitting

Meditation calms you down. It chills you out. It makes you sharper and smarter. It can improve your health and make you feel younger. But most importantly, it makes you happy!

When you meditate you go into the light inside of you, the light that makes up everything and everyone. It’s the light of eternity and it’s happiness itself. So when you meditate, you are making yourself more available to the light in your being, which literally makes you happy!

When you meditate you come to have silent knowledge about the universe that makes some of the seemingly harsh and random events of life more understandable. You come to see that you are not just your body and your mind, but that there is a part of you that lives beyond the death of the body. You see that who you truly are is eternal.

This might sound simplistic or fantastical, so you have to check it out for yourself to see that it is true. In fact, one of the reasons I like the practice of meditation is that it’s not about blindly believing what someone preaches to you, but rather finding out for yourself what is true.

The Bliss of a Vacation from the Internet

MedGalWalkingRecently I was on vacation, and with the exception of a few email checks, I also took a vacation from the Internet. Though I have done this many times before, I was still amazed at the blissfulness of the mind without the energetic push and pull of the Internet. The mind is so much more quiet and unconcerned with the goings-on of the world when released from the tyranny of the Internet :–). I highly recommend you give yourself a vacation from the Internet the next time you go on vacation.
